Singapore: girl in the 'hood

Thursday: decorators in, so a little more exploration of the local area for me and my laptop. It seems there is (gasp!) more than one chi-chi little art cafe near here, as a Japanese friend showed me recently.

Today's The Orange Thimble was cheaper and quicker than Forty H4nds. Good mocha with Iced Gems (they have Iced Gems here!!) pleasant service, nice loos and a several little rooms to explore and sit in. Also a garden out back (though gardens here are about 10 million degrees in the shade, so not the al fresco experience of Europe!)

Otherwise, more pretty streets, and a plate of 'fried carrot cake' at the market - which apparently contains no carrots, though I suspect turnip paste.

(As usual, Blogger picture layout is broken, but click on any of the below for a slide-show.)
